Paci Update

Well, Trevor is definitely paci free! It has been a hard transition for our whole family, but he seems to FINALLY be getting back to his normal sleeping habits. Here are some pictures of him the last night that he had a paci. You can see from these pictures just how much he loved his paci. The morning after these pictures were taken Trevor and I took his paci down to the trashcan to throw it away. Before throwing it in the trash I asked Trevor what happened to his paci. "It's broken," he said. "That's right, it's broken, so where does it have to go?" I responded. "In the trash." And into the trash he put it. He didn't seem to have any problems with throwing his paci away and was very proud of himself!

Until nap time, and then he cried. It broke my heart! He begged me to let him get his paci out of the trash, but I asked him again what happened to it, and he said it was broken. He calmed down after about 15 minutes, but never went to sleep (despite being in his room for over 2 hours)

In fact, over the next two weeks, he only took two naps! He also woke up several times each night (always at different times than Jenna, of course), so we were a tired family.

After two weeks of waking up every night (2-3 times) he finally began sleeping all night again. His naps are becoming more frequent, but he still doesn't take one every day. This experience has definitely encouraged me to wean Jenna off her paci sooner than we did it with Trevor.

  1. I didn't realize that's why he hadn't been napping well! Good job Trevor and good job mommy :) Our kiddos are so big now!
