2 1/2!

****Warning - very long post filled with lots of details most people won't care about, but I never want to forget. A picture filled post of Trevor will come later since Blogger isn't letting me load them to the site right now****

I can't believe it, but Trevor is 2 1/2 years old! I'm way behind on blogging, so this post is a little late. Trevor turned 2 1/2 on April 16th, and just continues to amaze us with how much he's growing and learning.

Trevor has finally reached the 30 lb mark, and is tall! He didn't have a check up with the doctor, so I don't know how tall he is exactly, but he's outgrown all of his pants again. He's too skinny for 3T pants and shorts, but thankfully the warm weather means he can wear his 2T shorts for now.

Trevor loves to talk and sing. He will ask us often for his "dance music" (Veggie Tales cd) when we're in the car, and can sing along to all the songs. He also loves to make songs up and especially loves to sing during time out.

Speaking of time out. . . Trevor spends a lot of time there these days. He is definitely pushing all the boundaries right now, and we are learning that we have to be extremely consistent with him no matter what situation we're in. He's also been experimenting with hitting and pushing when he gets mad. We still haven't figured out the best way of dealing with this, but we're working on it. He is still going to preschool one day a week and loves it! He loves Ms. Sandy and Ms. Donna, and they love him too! Ms. Donna doesn't let him get in the classroom without giving her a hug. This morning the parking lot was very crowded so we had to park on a side street. Trevor thought that meant he wasn't going to preschool, and was disappointed he almost cried.

He's becoming even funnier. He loves to make jokes, and will laugh at things he finds funny. If we don't laugh along with us, he'll tell us the joke again and again until we laugh as well. His favorite joke right now is to call me Daddy and to call Cory Mommy. He does not like to be called Jenna, and will emphatically say "I not Jenna, I Trevor". He no longer refers to himself in third person, but will now use I, me, and mine instead of his name.

Potty training is not happening in our house. We talk about going potty, but he shows no interest in actually using it (unless he thinks it'll get him out of a nap) so we're not worrying about that right now. I plan on trying some formal potty training this summer, but am not going to push it if he still isn't interested.

The paci has finally been thrown away. Trevor has been sleeping with two pacis (one in mouth, one in hand), but this week I realized he'd chewed a big hole in the side of his paci. I told him it was broken and would need to be thrown in the trash. I let him use it one last nap time, but after he woke up we threw it away. A few days later (Monday, May 10th) he pointed out to me that his other paci was "broken". I let him use it for nap time and bed time, but threw it away yesterday when he woke up. He was very sad at nap time, and begged me to get it out of the trash can. I felt so bad, but knew it was time for him to move beyond it so I told him no. He finally fell asleep after 2 hours. Last night he also had trouble falling asleep, and woke up once in the middle of the night asking for his paci. I reminded him it was in the trash and rubbed his back for a few seconds until he went back to sleep.

Trevor is still a great big brother, and loves Jenna to pieces! He loves to help give her her paci, wants to hold her in his lap, and tries to pick her up when she's crying. She loves to watch him play, and will smile when he's talking to her.

Well, I'm sure there are many other things I should be writing down before I forget them, but it's time to go pick him up from school.

  1. I love that he loves preschool so much!! =) And yeah for the paci being done with- that was such a relief when we (FINALLY) got rid of Jackson's. =) Too cute about the jokes. Jackson used to tell some like that...I love when they discover their sense of humors!

  2. Hey Mel,

That sounds right about normal, especially the paci part. We did the SAME THING when Jurnee chewed through hers. Oddly she didnt ask for it for months and THEN she wanted paci...but stay strong Mom!

Potty training, Ive heard boys are harder to train. We have friends whos little boy turned 3 last month and also has no interest...they will come around in time. I bet T will get it in no time, once he's ready!!!

    Love ya
